Do you rant or rave about your job? When these words are used separately, they have opposite meanings. Rant means "to complain loudly," while rave means "to be wildly enthusiastic."

The satisfaction you get from your job is determined by whether or not your values are being met. This survey was designed to provide a general idea of your satisfaction with your work Relationships, your work Activities, the internal Values that motivate you, and your work Environment.

DIRECTIONS
Allow 15-30 minutes to complete this survey. Choose a time when you will not be interrupted. Do not think too long about any statement and go with your first impression when selecting an answer. Be honest with yourself and see what you can learn. Also, it is important to use all of the possible answers -- avoid using the "middle ground" answers for all of the statements.

If you have any questions about the survey, the scoring, or the interpretation, please call 314-727-4422.

For each statement, use the following rating scale. Click the number on the right that corresponds to your answer.

Job Satisfation Total:

INTERPRETATION GUIDE
If your percentage score is
75-100 You probably rave about your job
62-74 Sometimes you rave, sometimes you rant
50-61 You probably rant more than rave
Below 50 Your job is failing to satisfy you

NEXT STEPS
First, ask yourself if your results seem right, given what you know about your feelings about your job. If your satisfaction with your job is low, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Which area of the survey (Relationships, Activities, Values, or Environment) had the lowest score?
  2. What would it take to improve the situation?
  3. Can you make these changes occur?
  4. If not, what prevents you?
If you have difficulty answering the questions, or if you don't like the answers you have to the questions, perhaps it's time to look outside yourself for help.

If you need more direction or if you desire personal assistance with your situation, a career counselor can help you assess your individual needs and create a personalized plan that helps you reach your goals. You don't have to be miserable to make a living!
